Goodman Lantern has always been a company that strives to empower women. We are a company that believes in gender equality and economic empowerment for women. These values are driven by our CEO and founder, Raj Goodman Anand. So they emanate throughout our culture. Recently, Raj was invited to speak about this exact topic on the Achieve with Me podcast. This podcast “aims towards ambitious women who are keen to get ahead at work and also want the confidence to achieve that next promotion”.

For this episode, Raj joins podcast host, Rachel Gilfrin, to discuss how to create a culture for women to thrive. They unpack how Raj has navigated his career and, similarly, where his values about women’s empowerment stem from.

Contributions Towards a Culture to Empower Women

Raj notes the following as contributions towards his strong stance on women empowerment:

  • He wants to build a legacy that honours his core values.
  • He believes a cause beyond money should motivate companies and founders.
  • His background and childhood in the Middle East and India have also influenced his passion for women’s empowerment.
  • The struggles of family and friends, which have shaped his passions and values.

Rachel mentions a couple of important points from her side. She touches on the different behaviours that women experience in companies and organisations. This includes:

  • Appearance bias
  • Microaggression, particularly in a meeting environment
  • Access (or lack thereof) to high-profile jobs

The discussion touches on how these challenges chip away and women’s confidence over time and how having male allies in a team can help break this bias.

This inspiring episode is surely worth a listen to anyone and everyone who is interested in women’s empowerment. It’s also for company managers and owners who want to change their respective businesses to create gender equality.
